Cultivation Course
The Leadership Garden Cultivation Course is a two-part facilitated course conducted over eight, two-hour sessions. The course text is The Leadership Garden Guidebook.
The course is distinct from the Empowerment Workshops, in that course participants read each lesson and complete the exercise, prior to each session. Each session begins with a few individuals sharing what they learned. The principles or practices of that lesson are then applied to the group process.
The course is designed for those who want to integrate effective leadership principles and practices that will increase your effectiveness and improve your bottom line.
Depending upon your bottom line: increased student achievement, expanded learning opportunities, improved working relationships, or increased productivity and profits; everyone benefits from growing a thriving Leadership Garden at work and home.
Over the span of the Course, your group will:

- determine the condition of your group Leadership Garden
- examine the group leader balance
- discuss ways to integrate leader-friendly gardening practices within your group
- invent or clarify your individual unique purpose and aims and see how you contribute to your group mission
- understand and utilize the attributes effective leadership within the group
- understand the "Commitment Paradox" and determine how your group is moving through the circle of commitment
- practice effective communication with the group
Course syllabus:
Part I: Lays the foundation of your individual and collective Leadership Garden
- Session One: Leadership Garden – Introduction
- Session Two: Planting a Leadership Garden
Part II: The U.N.I.Q.U.E. Tour begins
- Session Three: Understanding Field to learn to balance four leader behaviors
- Session Four: Nurturing Meadow to learn leader-friendly gardening practices
- Session Five: Inventive Roost to invent a unique group purpose and aim
- Session Six: Quality Yard to learn the attributes for thriving leadership
- Session Seven: Unstoppable Pasture to remove barriers and commit to a thriving future
- Session Eight: Expression Pen to celebrate that your thriving leadership journey has just begun
Length: Eight, two-hour sessions (16 hours of instruction and group facilitation time)
