LGL News: Demonstration Project Opportunity
We are selecting 11 sites across the country to demonstrate the Leadership Garden Legacy (LGL) Framework in schools and communities between January and mid-June 2010.
The Framework supports leadership development through education, empowerment, and engagement in homes, schools, and communities by providing resources and services, a grassroots and online registry, and leader-friendly gardening Practice Project grants
The demonstrations will involve elementary through high school-aged youth in two projects: Growing Kids' Leadership Gardens and Cultivating Cross-age Leadership.
Ideal sites are schools (public or private), 21st Century Community Learning Centers, or other organizations that provide academic enrichment and/or youth development services for children ages 8-12.
Each site will receive free materials, registry membership, a $300 Cultivation Grant, and 2-day training for the cross-age leaders.
Sites must be an educational non-profit or a charitable organization that is tax-exempt under the IRS Code Section 501 (c) (3) and a public charity under Code Section 509 (a) and serve children ages 8-12 on a regular basis within a district or organization.
Don't delay. Our site selections will end by February 28,2010.
If you or someone you know fits the criteria, please contact us. Put in the subject line: Demonstration Project Inquiry, or call 541-928-2232 to learn more or schedule an interview.
